Daily Blast - Minor Prophets: Day 1

Scripture

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
— 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT)

Reflection

In this verse in 2 Timothy, Paul is telling Timothy that the Bible is “inspired by God” and that everything in it has a part to play in our lives. Throughout this new series, we will be praying that God will equip us and help us learn more about how to live healthy lives in the way He has set out for us.

The minor prophets are the last 12 books in the Old Testament before the New Testament. They span across centuries with different rulers, different people and are based in different areas. But they all have something relevant to be teaching us today. Although they are titled “minor”, they still have a part to play in our daily lives, coming with warnings, encouragement, and insight to more of God's character.

Through this series we will be looking at all 12 of the prophets, some will be over a series of entries to allow us the opportunity to look deeper into the characters and what they have to teach us for our lives so that we can continue growing closer to God.

Challenge

Today’s challenge is to pray this prayer out loud for yourself.

“Lord Jesus, I pray that as we go through this series on the minor prophet that you will open my heart to what you want me to hear. I ask that you help me understand more of what you have for my life, as you plan to prosper me and not to let me down. I pray that you will show me what can be learned through the minor prophets that will show me more of you and to help me gain a deeper understanding of who you are. Amen.”
