Statement on behalf of the trustees of City Church Worcester following the publication of the Teaching Regulation Agency Professional Conduct Panel Outcome relating to Graham Coyle

Teacher misconduct panel outcome: Mr Graham Coyle - GOV.UK

We would like to take this opportunity firstly to acknowledge the bravery of the former pupil for speaking up and recognise the courage it takes to come forward in such circumstances.

Whilst Mr Coyle has not been part of the Church for some time, we acknowledge that he had leadership responsibilities in the Church in and around the time of the actions described in the Teaching Regulation Agency report as well as subsequent to the time period described in the report. As soon as concerns arising from historic actions were brought to the Church's attention in April 2023, whilst Mr Coyle was senior leader, we followed our safeguarding procedure, as well as the advice from the relevant authorities and advisory services, to ensure safeguarding practices were followed.

Our safeguarding procedures are regularly reviewed and safeguarding training provided to those who serve in positions of responsibility. We have recently appointed a new senior leader following a rigorous recruitment process.

We remain committed to ensuring that every young person feels safe, supported and heard, and encourage anyone with concerns to report them through the appropriate channels.
