Scripture

Martha,” Jesus said, “You don’t have to wait until then. I am the Resurrection, and I am Life Eternal. Anyone who clings to me in faith, even though he dies, will live forever. 26 And the one who lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?
— John 11:25-26 (TPT)

Reflection

Today is the day! What a day! The weight of eternity rests on today. If Jesus does not rise we have no hope, but if He lives it changes everything! And the amazing thing for us is we know that He has risen.

Jesus rising is the most important moment in history. At this moment Jesus overcame death and the veil was torn in the temple from top to bottom. The veil tearing in two is the sign that the separation between us and God has been removed not by anything that we can do but only by what God has done for us.

In Matthew (28:1-15), we can see a full account of Jesus' resurrection, when Mary found the tomb empty, and her conversation with the Angel. We also see that the chief priests continue to plot against Jesus, making up lies about how His disciples had stolen the body to make it look like Jesus had been raised to life.

However, at the end of Matthew 28 (16-20) we see that the disciples see Jesus when they go to the place He had told them to go. They worshipped Him, although some doubted - we know that Thomas was one of those but we also see that Thomas turns to full belief when he sees Jesus (John 20:24-29).

Through the sacrifice of Jesus and His resurrection, we have the amazing gift of eternal life. All we have to do is believe in Jesus, no acts, no works makes God love us anymore. All we have to do is accept Jesus in our hearts.

Today is an amazing opportunity to remember the greatest event in history. That the tomb is empty and Jesus has won and we have an amazing chance to get to know Jesus more and spend eternity with Him.

Challenge

Are you going to let this Easter just be another Easter? Or are you going to take this incredible opportunity to get closer to God? He is accessible and He wants you to invite Him into the next step of your relationship with Him.

Take some time today to think about the sacrifice which was made on your behalf and I invite you to pray a prayer of thanksgiving today in remembrance of all the good that God has done for us.
